Bio

we are mercury dimes

As was said on the home page, Mercury Dimes aren't totally sure how to answer the question of genre. Indie, punk, folk... they’ve even been called Art Rock. They’ve been compared to The Pixies, to Alanis Morisette, to the Breeders... what brings their sound together is the sincerity that runs through it all. They love to write and perform music that feels real, lyrics that the audience can understand, and songs that bring you to unexpected places. They aren't trying to be anybody but themselves- so maybe that difficulty of labelling their music is exactly where they want to be.

Nathan Colby Curlee (drums, vocals, sometimes synth or melodica), and Wesley Mauldin (bass, vocals) have been playing music together since they were pre-teens. They both have played many instruments in many different bands, and they bring their unique expertise to the table.

Laura Staples (guitar, lead vocals) didn't truly start the move from the audience to the stage until she was in college, though there were some false starts early on in childhood- none of which were inspiring (quite the opposite, in fact).

Releasing their first album in November 2021, Broken Down Everything, jumpstarted the band onto a new, productive path forward. A band made of true friends is one that sticks together through hard times that come for each member individually, and is a band that will inevitably find that you can't all always have the spoons to drive things onward together. But you hang on and keep going. And then you hit those times when everyone is fully ready, able, and energized to move to the next level. Mercury Dimes has hit on one of those times where all members are focused, are pushing, are seeing the positive results already, and are excited for what is to come.

Mercury Dimes will be releasing their second full-length album in 2022, dropping singles and artwork along the way. They can't wait for it to be out in the world. You’ll be seeing more from them- they can promise you that.
