First Record Reflections

Happy lazy Sunday! Laura here with a little reflection...

We are so honored to have such a nice write-up from the ever-busy, super kind-hearted Jonny Golian of Reporting From 20XX for our new record, Broken Down Everything: "Mercury Dimes Brings A Voice Against Anxiety With “Broken Down Everything” – RF20XX Album Review". Read it here.

As our first release, this album means a lot to us as a band, and it’s pretty amazing for me personally to look back on the long journey I have taken to push through depression and anxiety since writing it. While we had hoped to release it much sooner, it’s pretty inspiring to be able to look back now and see all of the growth that has happened since the fractured emotions, self-doubt, and hard thoughts that brought these songs into being.

There is, as ever, more growth to do, but I am proud of that which has already taken place, and am excited to already be working on our next recording- one that will still work through personal pains, but that is also able to look more outward. (Ok sentiments aside, it’s gonna rip y’all ).

Thank you Jonny, and to everyone else, for listening. While I wish you all couldn’t relate to the darker side of the lyrics, it’s certainly comforting to know that you can keep us company there

UPDATE: TL;DR- WE LOVE YOU; NEW RECORD SOON; KEEP LISTENING AND SUPPORTING DIY MUSIC 💜

Every single one of those 90 (now 110) humans mean the world to us. We don't think of music as a numbers game, but the surprise of seeing our listeners grow so suddenly was of course a welcome one. Not to mention knowing that folks from all age groups across 14 different countries are tuning in🌏🎧

We aren't great about saying it at shows, but you can stream our first record, Broken Down Everything, in all the places. Self-recorded from our living room in the old broken down house in Charlotte where we got our start, then dug up, mixed and mastered by our talented friend Travis Brown of fellow local rock band @anchordetailclt , it is the definition of DIY music ☠️

We are already at it again for our next record, and this time we have the whole band of Anchor Detail hopping aboard to give us a hand, to loan us better recording gear, and to cheer us on. We are humbled and eternally grateful for their love and support, not to mention their time and effort going into helping THIS NEXT RECORD RIP 🔥

Their next show is April 30th at Tommy's Pub, and the lineup is a doozy- don't miss out seeing them play with Phaze Gawd, The Local Odyssey, and DOZR 🤘🖤💜
